Kinda New Reel

So anyways, I put up a new reel, it's nicer, but since I can't put in any tests I did for studios, and most of the stuff I did for Lego is not animated, there isn't much new stuff in it. So I'm going to resurrect and develop a few ideas to make some quickies in the future, I've been trying to illustratify lately rather than do animafications, so I promise you'll see some funny stuff in the future that actually moves. Let's see, I finally got the website up to snuff, but there's a whole dimension of bureacratic tediousness attached to transferring an old domain name, so I am foiled once again, it's like opening a whole new can of worms, except they are those evil sand worms from Beetlejuice, tragic. So I'm not gonna get into that, my car is winning the battle in douchebaggery again, somehow losing a key has set off a chain reaction of events that has lead up to a total cost of 350$ (The locksmith broke my alarm system on my over-engineered car that is notorious for having bad wiring). -Insert segue - I'm animating somewhat in Maya, though I do it sporadically, more to prove that I can do it than anything, so I'll probably put those up in the future. And stay straight... err... safe.

Here is just a mash up of drawings that have accumulated on my desk over the last month or so, not really anything fully colored, just sketches. I figure I'd post em up and then like move on to some more specific personal projects, because all I do is seem to sit upon 4 stories, which I know could have moxie, given the chance, but if they remain eggs for too long they just might up gettin eaten, by metaphorical weasels... that live inside my head, in other words I'll lose interest if I'm not careful. So anyway, some of these are old, some are new, and some are specific to the aforementioned stories, mainly the ninja ones, most are just for fun. Later.

Comicon - Pope 2008 ?

It was probably one of the most unplanned trips to the city I've ever been on, with two days of warning I was somehow convinced to embark on a very nerdy and expensive mission to the convention. But it turned out to be pretty fun, even with the ghostly essence of guilt floating around me caused by impending car repairs payments, I swear I wanna make a legitimate independent movie about my triumphant v-day over that evil mechanized bastard and how I utterly destroy it's cold fabricated soul for all the years of strife it has brought to my life. Did Calvin ever get the better of his bike? I'd like to think that's the kind of struggle I'm trying to illustrate here, or like, wouldn't it be funnier if like my car kidnapped my daughter? And I was taken hostage and forced to go on an airplane, but I broke the neck of the guy sitting next to me only to put a pillow under his head and tell the stewardess that "he's dead tired", followed by a daring exit through the landing gear of the 300mph plane just before take off, leading up to a righteous execution of the automative assailant with a steam pipe? Or like even better, I would be alone in my house at Christmas, and it would be trying to rob my house, but I set up all these traps so... oh yeah, nevermind. Tangents are sometimes fun, this one was not.

It was a pretty epic event, I only went for one day though, next year I'll plan it better and actually stay for the weekend. I got the usual ass load of SWAG and eyefuls of cute little girls with kitty hats and so forth, but some of my better ill gotten gains were:

I'll have to get the pic of me and mc from my friend's girlfriend, it's locked away in her cell phone where I can't get it. It was cool to see him again, but weird, cause it happened really unexpectedly like 2 minutes after having a conversation about him. He told me that the concert I went to see him at many years ago at Arlen's Grocery was his first performance, and that it was historic, so that was cool. I don't want to hear about how much better his sig is than mine, his wasn't hastily written in line on someone's back, plus he's 8 foot tall giant spider wearing a diaper. For now I'll leave with that, I wanna get back to drawing and stuff before bed, I feel like I didn't accomplish much today. Word I'm out.

Did Shredder die after he fell into the back of that garbage truck? Hell naw. Not even a cold steel crushing machine capably wielded by a psychotic ex-hockey player could touch him. What about an entire dock collapsing on him? ... Wooden planks ain't got shit on shinobi, you know how many of those they split in half daily? As many as the term "Darb" was popular during prohibition. He probably would have lived if I had slain that screaming feces demon that created the third TMNT, like I was supposed to... but I guess I'm allergic to screaming demon doodoo. It's like an otherwise brilliant, shimmering Triforce of childhood awesomeness, forever tainted by the third piece they were too lazy to quest for, so they decided to make it out of yellow play-doh, but they were too lazy to find that so they just used cat shit instead. Anyway, the point (of the sword) I'm trying to make is, ninja don't die, atleast they let you think they have atleast 7 times before they actually do, and I'm maybe up to like 2 really big luls.

I've been training my artistic and physical muscles in the briefs moments I have between work, and that has left me with little time to keep the blog updated and in touch with people. Full time studio stuff is going on right now, and it's been going pretty well so far, I have a lot of fun at my job. I guess I can't really say what it is we're working on just yet, but it's pretty cool. I would just like to say I will hopefully have that website up relatively soon, it's unbelievable how far I've let that slip away from me, it's just on hiatus. It's like an RPG you get to the last boss in and just put it down for a few months after you put 50 or so hours into it. Anyhow sit tight gents, and if anybody from school is reading this, I would like to get back in touch with all of you, I'm just a little slow at that. Little Mac Attack

Eh ya know, you listen to a little too much Survivor you start drawing things like this. Mike Tyson's Punchout was one of my favorite games growing up, even though I sucked badly at it. I remember when I first got it, Glass Joe used to hand my ass to me, must've surprised him. Later on in my prime for the SNES version I was able to beat Nick Bruiser in like 20 seconds, if that matters to anyone, didn't think so.

But anyway, this poor schlub needed like a fire ladder to reach his Godzilla opponents, apparently there is no such thing as a weight class in video boxing. Little Mac is like Rocky times a thousand, and it's sweet that he's going to be in the new Smash Bros. Anyway, I think I'll try and focus mainly on my website now, anyday now folks. Taw

Well so no 'Go Speed Racer', oh well. In my opinion it didn't come out so bad, but there are a few issues I would have fixed that I see now. I still have one test being processed at the moment I'm waiting on. Even if it doesn't happen I'm not gonna be discouraged, I got plenty to work on, but it'd be nice. I might have to take on another 2-3 day a week part time job that isn't related to animation just to have some form of play money. I got the foundation of a web page done, now I just need to figure out what content should go on and how to arrange it. I could prolly have that done in 2 days, but I haven't thought of a great name yet. Are Street Fighter special move names copyrighted? I have an idea... anyway, I'll have something more concrete in a few days.

I don't know why but I felt like making something cute last night, so I did these, maybe I'll make more down the line. Hope yous guys had a Merry Christmas, or that other thing... Heathenmas I guess it's called. I got the Back to the Future Trilogy which is the bee's knees times triplicate. My aunt got me one of those TotalGym workout machines, so I'll be like Chuck Norris if I gain a few more levels, got the red hair already covered, the beard will come... probably never as my genes don't seem to possess that ability, yet. I'll make up for it with a scar, that should account for the lost ruggedness, it is the sledding season after all, and my friends and I are quite stupid. Anyway, no Holiday themed pics, cause I've been busy for the last two weeks doing tests for the new Speed Racer show at Animation Collective and for this website: http://www.guru-x.com/ - doing minimalistic SouthParkish animation, hopin' that goes well. I've been working with Jeremie on the Animation Block Party intro, once you get to know it well enough, Flash becomes your best friend, I've liked working in it since high school. I'd post some pics of the animation but I bet that's a big no-no, we'll see. I realize I need to do more work with Backgrounds. Fill in all my gaps y'know? Here are a few samples I have, I have a few more but this is all that really fits. I really need to do more Urban scenery, another gap to fill there, but Y'see... knowing where I grew up well, ya draw what ya know... I am a nature beast.

Hey check it out... you non-existent people, where are you anyway!? I should really let more than 4 of my friends know about my blog if I expect it to be seen. I'll do it this afternoon, MOM! So my buddy Jason made a 3D version of one of my foul-mouthed deadbeat dad / Italian stereotype characters, Tony Fagoogliadi. No black teeth is not an Italian stereotype, and so what if it was? I'm the most pale 1/4 Sicilian you'll ever meet, but it still counts dammit, Enough to gain duel citizenship in fact. He is known for spending his days playing/recording long hours of NHL 95' on his Sega Genesis, to make sure to record 20 perfect seasons of the Jersey Devils, a hobby that has kept him from going completely over-the-edge, the past few years. However, when his flamboyant nephew Jeffrey accidentally knocks out the power of the console one day, the consequences are a boomerang straight to the small child's loins, ouch. Yeah he's kind of a bad father, or good... depending on your point of view, you might be a bad person and think he's great. Anyway, I have a few adventures of his locked in my head that need to be drawn out some time, if the world is ready.

So it seems I might be doing a bit of freelance work this winter with the infamous Jeremie "The Bear" Duval. More on that later when I find out what's goin on. Ok what's a hot topic now... oh yeah, Christfest time and all that jazz. I've decided to get a Nintendo DS Lite, and maybe a few DVD's. There's a lot of old school RPG ports that have and will come out for that glorious system, and I hear it's much better than the PSP. I prolly should put my demo reel / thesis up here soon.

...Oh wait, do I even bother having to say this? No one's really reading this thing yet anyway, I gotta spread the word a lil better. But seeming how some people are politically correct jackasses out there, please do not take the Hitler picture with any more severity you would a clown on the side of the road holding a sign that says "Brain Surgeon".... or I'll eat a 5 layer bacon sandwich in front of your macrobiotic wicker vegan shanty and steal your ironic trucker hats. Maybe its because the amount of personal projects that don't suck for me have increased and I sometimes have a part time job to fulfill. All I did was move some brush from a tree I felled, ran 3 miles, and walked my dog... and it's bedtime. Gotta get faster at the drawing, I'm gonna work on that little handicap during my downtime, somebody get me a stopwatch. Ready... set...

Salut! Ya' cheese-eaters. This here is a character from my would-be Dethklok show, if Brendon Small hadn't robbed me of ideas in my sleep... He is the Bass player of the band and has a more laid back Chaotic-Neutral personality to contrast the other folks on the show, which lean more towards decadent bastardism. He wields a rotten eternally stinky piece of meat, and no matter how many bites he takes from it, and how many skulls he crushes with it, it never disappears. I think I'll let this awkward unemployment thing go on for another week or two, everyday will be invested in improving my raw ability, or filling in technical knowledge of software with tutorials. However, I'm getting a little tired of it, if the local job I mentioned previously doesn't happen I'm going to try and mingle with some of the folks down at a studio in Norwich, where they do Scholastic stuff. We'll see... don't want to jump the gun just yet.

Hello my little droogies, It's about time I add some real people to my links so it's not just imaginary friends partaking in this humble little periodical. So as things stand now with my career business, I'm currently on hold for doing some kind of After Effects work on a documentary for Vh1... I passed a test to get it and it's greenlit, but things are looking a lil uncertain with that at the moment. Atop that mountain of prolly-not-gonna-happen I know definitely have a job waiting for me at a small studio near my hometown at the end of this month, they do artwork for various Lego products... 3D and 2D. There's a lot of small projects beneath that, like people coming up to me and asking for a band album cover and so forth. I want something to happen soon, but it hasn't got me down really, I'm highly motivated usually draw or watch tutorials 6 hours a day if I can. I have a part time job for the time being which keeps me in shape, and utilizes my artistic ability on occasion... basically I could be doing one of these seemingly arbitrary activities to keep myself from becoming a complete financial slug-vampire: Treework, Blacksmithing, Landscaping, Website Design, and Sketches of proposed metalworking projects for clients. All for the same guy. Pays well, I've lost 15 pounds and feel pretty awesome, but it'll be nice to work in my field once again. Now I better get on to adding you guys and getting back to work. Here's some good times for you... Dynomiiiiiiite!

Just a few pics from last Tuesday's model drawing class. I've been trying to do one session a week since early on this summer, in Washington Depot, CT. So far I think they've definitely helped me out a lot, I can't really stand much Life Drawings I did before this summer, though they are not forgotten. Anyway, it's been almost a week since I began and I haven't gotten this battle station fully armed and operational yet, so I'll try and get on that tommorow...

Greetings to all artastic ninjas out there, I figure that Guy Fawkes day would be an appropriate time to explode back into the ether known as blogging, what a horrible word that is, I’m gonna try never to use it as long as I’m posting stuff on here, a difficult but noble task indeed. Anyway, if you went to school with me in New York, it’s pretty much guaranteed that we’ve lost touch over these past months and for all you know I could be dead. Despite going through both Mono and Lyme’s disease this summer I’m not a zombie yet, and to prove to those miscreants out there who say I’ve lost my edge ( I don’t know of any, but you know who you are, and you’re fat and smelly ) that you couldn’t be further from the perpetually gleaming aura of truth, pulsating with the light of a thousand gleaming Shinkuu Hadokens, which by the way can easily be dispatched with any simple pantomime from this here Connecticutian. I'm here to do my best to make sure that edge stays intact, and perhaps someday becomes wielded by the hand of giant tyrannochucknaurus... with tank treads instead of legs. I’ll begin posting more soon and letting you know of the career adventures I’m going through right now, no weeping about ex-girlfriends or crappy poetry I assure you, just pictures really. This first diatribe is mainly just to act as a pilot light to make sure I don't procrastinate anymore with getting this thing started. So I guess I’ll catch you kids later, I'll start making the proper calibrations to this bloggity beast as soon as I can, but I need to get some work done right now. Taw!
